What is RAD?   Reactive Attachment Disorder, that is.

This little face on the left may look familiar to you if you are facing challenges associated with adoption, foster parenting, attachment breaches, and/or the after effects of early childhood trauma and neglect.

Or perhaps the tension in this family picture has a resonance.

In the interest of not reinventing the wheel, click the link below to find RADkid.org's description of Reactive Attachment Disorder.

Ken Anderson does a great job of briefly stating the important features  of the disorder.  The only thing I would caution you about:  RADkid.org is a wonderful new resource; however, not all resources are equal.  While I endorse the brief article I am linking you to there, I cannot fully endorse all the content of the books recommended on the same page. With that caveat, CLICK HERE.

Many people call my office searching for treatment information and checklists of behaviors associated with Reactive Attachment Disorder.  These two checklists are good first steps.  Feel free to print, andswer, and take to your own therapist for follow-up.
